President’s Day Scholastic

Once again our annual President’s Day Scholastic tournament returned.  This tournament features a leisurely schedule, a provided pizza lunch, and tons of exciting chess.  The K-2 section was won by Mateusz Zalewski with a perfect 4/4 score.  Max Ingargiola, Gabriel Babayev, Max Lanson, and Amol Shukla all tied for second place with 3/4 each.  Ian Hoffman, Graydon Flinn, and Samantha Haley all played in their first ever tournament!

In the hotly contested K-5 section it was Jack Cole who won sole first place, reaching a new rating peak!  Close behind were Samuel Forfang, Arjun Arora, Rahul Arora and Jeremy Matloub who all finished with 3/4.  James Carlson participated in his first tournament.

Finally, the K-8 section was very strong with an average rating over 1000.  After four rounds of exciting games it was Alexander Kupersmith who emerged victorious with a perfect 4/4.  Alex also picked up 100 new rating points to reach a new rating high!  Congratulations to all of the participants whose respect  for the game and good sportsmanship made this yet another memorable event at CCFC.
