K-8 Scholastic Championship

With our newly added K-8th grade section, our K-8 Scholastic Championships was as competitive as ever and drew our largest crowd to date! In total, 44 players in three sections competed for the top honors. In the end, it would require perfect scores in order to secure first place. The K-2 section was won by Dream Team member Sean Thomas, with fellow Dream Teamers Benjamin Wu, Eddie Xue and Aalok Bhattacharya, as well as Jack Watkins finishing tied for 2nd place.

The K-5 section was won in great fashion by Thomas Ewald. Ewald won all four games and gained nearly 150 points to cross the 1000 mark! Dream Teamer Sam Forfang and Alexander Kupersmith also put in solid performances and tied for 2nd with 3/4.

The K-8th grade section was the largest with 18 participants. The rating favorite by a slim margin, Grant Wang showed his class by dispatching strong opponent after strong opponent to win with a perfect score! A massive tie for second place demonstrated the competitiveness of the section. Patrick O’Brien as well as CCFC students and Dream Team members Brandon Wang, Henry Stratakis-Allen, Maxwell Ringer and Dominick McConnell all tied for 2nd place with 3/4. Congratulations to all and thank you for making this tournament a huge success! We look forward to seeing you all again soon! Our next K-8 Scholastic Championships will be held on January 20th.
