K-12 Scholastic Championships

Thirty three players participated in this month’s K-12 Scholastic Championships. Tyler Marcus scored a perfect 4/4 in the K-2 section to take clear first place. Just behind were Benjamin Hong, Lingxi Lu and Darby Wellenius who took 2nd – 4th place respectively. Liam Haverstick, Jonathan Piza and Asim Zafar tied for 5th with 2/4 each.

The K-5 section was so competitive that no player was able to make it through unscathed. In the end, Ethan Kwong, Atul Krishnan, Oliver Samardzija and Luca Ghedini tied for first with 3/4 each. Having the best tie-break score out of the large group of players scoring 2 points, Paxton Freeman took home 5th place honors.

Finally, the K-12 section also saw co-champions. Uri Moon-Rosha, the pre-tournament favorite, proved he was up to the task against a bevy of talented challengers, scoring a perfect 3/3! Rohan Awasthi managed to keep pace, also winning all three of his games! Miles Gillott, Thomas Sargent and Sandra Apfelroth each scored 2/3 to finish in 3rd – 5th places respectively.

Congratulations to all of the players on their great performances and thank you to everyone for showing great sportsmanship throughout the event!
