K-8 Scholastic Championships

28 players participated in our April K-8 Scholastic Championship! Tournament veteran Nathaniel Moor won the K-2 section with a perfect 4-0 score. This section had a large number of players playing in only their first or second tournament ever. Their tenacity in the face of much more experienced players was truly impressive! In a rare occurrence, three players tied for first in the K-5 section! Benjamin Filler, Gaicomo Lowenstine and Jason Stein shared the spotlight. There were many elementary school students that should be commended for deciding to challenge themselves by entering the K-8 section to take on the older and more advanced students! The section was won by 8th grader Zachary Filler, but elementary schoolers Brandon Wang and Samuel Frofang finished close behind! Be sure to join us next month for more exciting chess!
