K-8 Scholastic Championships

There were many outstanding performances among the 30 students that participated at this month’s K-8 Schoalstic Championships. Alexander Kupersmith and Dream Teamer Filip Graham tied for first place in the K-8 section with 3 points each.

Nicholas Kurbanov won the K-5 with a perfect score and Jack Cole did the same in the K-2 section!

Most of the players that participated were already experienced tournament players. Theodore Berman was the one player competing in his first tournament ever. In a great start to tournament chess, Berman scored 2/4 which was good enough to give him the 5th place trophy! All of the participants showed amazing sportsmanship. Many of them, win or lose, would excitedly run off together to have their games analyzed by National Master Arslan Otchiyev, who once again offered complimentary review of their games throughout the tournament. We look forward to seeing everyone again for another successful day of chess!
